Publishing Mentorship Agreement: Onboarding Info and Terms

Woohoo! You’ve made it!

We’re so excited you’ve decided to work with us. This is a huge step toward making your dream of publishing a book come true, and we’re here to cheer you on every step of the way. Take a moment to read through these terms—it’s important stuff, but we’ve kept it simple and clear so you’ll know exactly what to expect.

By signing up, you’re agreeing to these terms, which might be updated from time to time. If something here doesn’t sit right, please reach out to us before moving forward.

1. Let’s Team Up! (Coach-Client Relationship)

  • Mentorship is a partnership—we both bring our best to the table to make it awesome!
  • We promise to show up ready and focused, and we ask that you do the same (and maybe grab your favorite coffee or tea for the calls).
  • We stick to high standards of ethics (hello, International Coach Federation Code!) and encourage you to check them out too.
  • Your progress and decisions are 100% yours. We’re here to guide and cheer you on, but the real magic comes from the work you do.
  • This mentorship isn’t therapy, legal advice, or medical care. If you need those, make sure to connect with the right experts. We’re rooting for you in every way!
  • Communication is key—be honest, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to say if something isn’t working.

2. How It Works (Service Description)

  • After you’ve signed up, we’ll kick things off with personalized 1:1 coaching sessions.
  • The mentorship is divided into fun, actionable stages (strategy > writing > design > distribution > marketing, and maybe a bonus or two).
  • Each stage starts with a deep-dive video call (up to two hours). These can happen weekly or at a pace that works for you.
  • Your mentorship includes 1x book formatting and 1x cover design handled by our agency—yay! But we’ll also teach you the ins and outs of editing your book yourself and share tips on finding awesome freelancers if you ever want to outsource.
  • We’ll use Trello as our hub—it’s where you’ll find resources, recordings, and notes. Think of it as your personal HQ!
  • We aim to reply to your questions within 24 hours. Sometimes it’s quicker, but hey, we might be busy helping other clients too.

3. Scheduling Stuff

  • Calls are booked at least 24 hours in advance through our easy-peasy Calendly link.
  • Need to cancel or reschedule? No problem, just let us know at least 24 hours ahead of time.
  • Life happens—emergencies are an exception, but don’t cancel just because you’re feeling behind. These calls are where breakthroughs happen!

4. Money Talk (Payment)

  • Investing in mentorship is a big deal, and we’re honored you’ve chosen us. By signing up, you’re confirming you’re ready to go all in financially and personally.
  • A Heads-Up on Extras - Sometimes we’ll share cool tools or resources to help you crush it. Love them? Awesome! Want to buy them? Totally your call, but just so you know, those extras aren’t included in the mentorship fee.
  • Payments can be made in full or through special arrangements we agree on together.
  • Access to the program starts once payment is sorted.

5. We’ve Got Your Back (Confidentiality)

  • Anything you share stays private, except when:
    • It’s something we need to share with a team member for your benefit.
    • We’re legally required to disclose it.
    • You’ve given us written permission.
  • We’ll never use your name as a reference unless you’re cool with it.

6. Wrapping Things Up (Termination & Refunds)

Either of us can end this agreement with three days’ notice—no hard feelings! If you decide to cancel, we’ll calculate a fair refund based on the mentorship hours and services already provided (using our hourly rate). If you’ve accessed Trello and the resources, refunds will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If we ever need to cancel, we’ll refund any undelivered services.

7. Respecting the Creative Stuff (Intellectual Property)

  • Everything we share (videos, guides, templates, etc.) is for you to use, but not to share or resell. It’s like a VIP ticket just for you!
  • If you’d like to share something with someone else, just ask first.

8. Got Concerns? Let’s Chat!

If we ever say or do something that bugs you, please let us know ASAP. We promise to listen and make it right. Mentorship can sometimes involve tough love, but it’s always coming from a place of wanting to see you grow and succeed. Honesty is the foundation of our work together.

9. Staying in Touch (Notices)

You’ll get updates and info from us at office@ssa-media.com. Let us know if your contact details change, okay?

10. The Big Picture (Entire Agreement)

This document covers everything about our mentorship agreement unless we sign something else in writing together.

11. Just to Be Clear (The Fine Print)

  • We’re not business managers, accountants, therapists, or miracle workers (though we like to think we’re pretty magical). We’ll give you all the tools and support you need, but the work—and the wins—are yours to own.
  • Payments are final, and there are no refunds for services already provided.
